New Year Resolutions

So the new year is here and i normally don't make resolutions, but I was really bored at work and my mind wandered off to some pretty odd daydreaming. Which made me recall someone I'll Mike R.(because his name is really Michael R!@#$%i). Now I've known Mike since I was about 10 or 11 years old and he was a strange daydreamer then. He's always been a big Journey(way before Steve Perry's golden pipes became ironically "hip") and Huey Lewis & the News fan.

He was convinced that his father was a CIA operative when we were 10 and most recently I saw him wearing a security guard uniform but I don't think it was official. The uniform seemed a little off for anything professionally made, perhaps he had made it himself or had killed a real mall security guard and disguised himself as one. I don't really know, but what I do know is that I still cross paths with him about once a year at random and it is always hilarious and self assuring to know that my life has turned out much better than my former grade classmate's. Not to belittle Mike in any way mind you because Mike is living his dream. See Mike is not an idiot in any way shape or form he's a reasonably intelligent person who is at most harmlessly delusional and always has been. A conversation with Mike R. is life affirming whether it be about his latest scheme to corner the market on riverboat "captaining" or about his screenwriting gig where he has been chosen by C.S. Lewis only legitimate heir to "truly adapt her works for the screen because hollywood has fucked them all up!"(C.S. Lewis was famously a religious family man). The beauty of Mike's life is that he loves his life and believes truly that his next big opportunity to join MI6 is right around the corner, after he gets done tuning his "axe" for an audition for Foreigner of course. Mike R. is crazier than a shithouse rat and seems to be genuinely loving life from what he tells me. I think he was wearing the same Huey Lewis 1984 world tour shirt under that uniform that he got at Licorice Pizza when we were in fifth grade.

So what does this have to do with New Year resolutions and daydreaming? Well it made me think about how much fun it must be to be randomly insane. I know, I know, mental illness probably isn't really fun by that's not what I'm talking about(plus I don't think Mike is any more mentally ill than anyone else he's really just weird and poorly socialized, kinda of like a puppy trying to please). What I'm talking about is how much fun and how liberating it is to just do or say whatever the fuck you want randomly. Unpredictability rules and chicks dig it!

This is why I don't wear underwear, chicks dig it!(if you get that reference then you are cool). I realized during all of this that I'm not as angsty, moody, emo, artistic, or pierced as most of the LJ community. I'm just a married geek who gets really bored at work and that I really do enjoy my life and family. What I resolve to do is to just be a little fucking crazy throughout the year and blow off some steam harmlessly while I amuse myself more often. I also resolve to post more often.

So I went to my mom's this morning to have some menudo and watch football. My little brother has decided that he wants to take up mixed martial arts and that he should also train the way he imagines Batman would. He also believes that he can take me in a fight now, so he attacked me while I was napping on the couch. He got me in very bad position with that attack, but a few minutes later I returned the choke hold favor to him and then let him go because I was going to have to hurt him or puke because I'm so fat and out of shape now. I guess it was sort of a draw if not a stalemate overall. My witch of a sister is convinced that my brother would have won but she doesn't know shit from shinola (I love that phrase). It should also be known that my son says I won and my brother gets naked very quickly when wrestling with men.

I ended up with much better performances from the Raider players I have than anyone else. This season is shaping up to be real fucked up. I doubt my totals will be enough to win this week but they are much better than I thought possible given the shitty performance of all the players who should not be shitty. I should check to see how fucked up everyone else is.

This is Drew Brees and this the thumb he jammed up my ass with his performance during the first game of the season. As the game progressed it actually felt like he closed the cockpit on this plane and then flew the whole thing up my ass just like Innerspace. He was my key to winning this weeks fantasy football matchup and instead of just meeting average expectations he fucked me up like fucking Martin Short. I mean I really screwed my draft up on my own but he seemed like the player who could counteract my own idiocy. Apparently my idiocy cannot be stopped or even tempered.

Should it make you feel bad to admit to liking something like this?

I'm not talking about as a guilty pleasure download from the safety of home, but actually going to the local store if you still have one near you and asking the lip pierced, pasty, emoish/neo-punker clerk who is disinterestedly asking you if you need help finding anything. I say fuck feeling bad or guilty, he should feel shitty for the crappy poseur appearance he's appropriated 25 years to late to really be taken seriously. If he smells like Herbal essence he shouldn't be giving you shit or attitude, also he shouldn't be wearing his sisters pants. Fuck him and proudly like what you like, I do. My friend Kevin I think was moved by her gentle eyes and by the fact that she was wearing as little as possible. What she was wearing was also the costume of one of the most scantily clad females in comic, so you can understand why it was so important to get a picture of the lovely girl for him. Comic Con 2007 was fun.

Olivia and Kevin looked stressed and I couldn't get a decent shot of Blair. We were hoping that Adam Sessler and Morgan Webb would be at Comic Con also but it was hard enough to even watch them broadcasting the show because the goofiest event security I have ever seen kept trying to intimidate people into staying away. Seriously, if you even tried to see what was happening at their booth some weird dude in a red event staff shirt would come at you like a rabid Brittany Spears repeating "no flash photography!" or "just keep moving, don't take pictures, just keep moving!". It didn't help that Blair and Olivia are the hottest women most of the guys there have ever been in the same room with, (it is the convention center exhibit hall but still the same room) at the biggest event in geekdom. Like moths to the flame, everyone was burned when they approached the G4 booth. That's too bad because I really do like Kevin, Olivia, and Blair when they are one the air. Olivia seemed pissed at the producers or directors or whoever they were.
